Surf and Sketch in Vietnam

An Bang Beach Hoi An October. Vietnam is not known for the best surf in the world with a relatively quiet China Sea off it’s shores, but occasionally with the right storm and no winds you will get a surprise like I did a few weeks ago. During the few days surfing and when the afternoon wind picked up I pretty much just sat at the beach and fell deep in my sketch book, playing with ideas for new paintings and finished this piece for my Surf and Sketch Series. I used pencil and sketch paper at first and finished with my tablet that I brought along for the trip. This piece is inspired by my home on Kauai and my recent sail down the Na Pali Coast. The Image is Kalalau Beach a place I have had some fun surfs at in the past. I also attached a video I took of a wave at An Bang Beach in Vietnam. Enjoy.
