The little wooden waves have now arrived.
After months of working on this idea of mini wooden waves with gold.. here they are starting with the first “Wave of Gratitude“. 13″x 11.5″ x 1.25”. 22k gold, salvaged beautiful Mango wood that was going to the landfill, Mahogany and Abalone.
This little wave is the first of twenty in the Wave of Gratitude Series. Each piece will have a similar wave design but with some layout and material differences that will give each it’s own identity.
The whole design including the frame is a solid piece of art that is made by myself. It has been fun to bring back my old wood working skills, some new cutting technology and fuse them together into my art. The Mango and Mahogany is rubbed twice with Tough Oil to bring out the amazing ribbon grain of the Mango and still give the wood that natural look.
I remind myself everyday of how lucky I am to be alive breathing at this very point in time and not yet just a memory of the past. My appreciation for life, the present, health, and the support from friends and family of my art have always been very strong to me. Life has been an amazing spiritual journey and I am very grateful. So at this new step in my artistic career what a perfect name to give this new powerful little wave:
Wave of Gratitude.
